Dwarf
_Personality: Dwarves are what the Good God Moradin made them. He took steel and gems and from them fashioned honorable warriors full of stout and hardy life. A dwarf values his familial name more than anything. It is for their honor and glory that he lives and has purpose. If his family means nothing than he means nothing. To disgrace his family or besmudge their name is tantamount to self destruction. Though honor and duty are a large part of a Dwarf's existence they also enjoy life to its fullest. Everyday is another chance to enjoy the glory's that Moradin has bestowed upon them; whether that be a battle, the company of a good woman, or a drink of fine ale. Older, wiser dwarves will often take on the role of family treasurer or merchant. It is in these roles that yet another side of the dwarf becomes evident. Dwarves have an innate sense of an object's value and will often settle for no more or less than a fair price for it. They tend to be shrewd business men in tangible goods, and in their old age prove to be invaluable members of the family.
Physical Description: Dwarves stand about 4 to 4 and half feet tall and are far broader in the back than most humans. Their broadness makes them weigh nearly as much as a human. Their skin color ranges from a normal human skin color to a deep ruddy brown. This usually is dependent on how much sun the dwarf gets on a regular basis. Dwarves hair color range is also similar to that of humans; although the majority of dwarves will either have black or red hair with few possessing blonde hair. Dwarves Eye color range is far more expansive than that of humans'. It is not unusual to find dwarves with silver eyes or even purple, the one unifying characteristic is that all dwarven eyes gleam like gems. Male dwarves will grow facial hair shortly after birth with full and long beards appearing shortly after puberty. Female dwarves do not grow facial hair contrary to the legends; although in their old age they have been known to sprout some rather unsightly whiskers. As a dwarf grows older their hair greys, whitens or becomes silvery, and their skin wrinkles like most humanoids.
Relations: Dwarves get along best with halflings as they both understand the importance of family and enjoy life to its fullest with song and merriment. They do not however understand gnomes at all and will often give them a wide berth as their strange mastery over magic makes them uncomfortable. Dwarves get along fine with humans, half-elves, and enjoy having festivities with them, though their disregard for the importance of honor or family often astounds them. Elves, while not often friends of dwarves will share a common respect for craftsmanship and professionalism. Dwarves prefer to deal with elves more than any other race, and that seems to be their only common ground. Dwarves do not trust Half- Orcs, Half-Giants and most other half-breeds, often because one their parent races is a steadfast enemy of the dwarven peoples or because simply cannot understand their world view.
Alignment: Most dwarves aspire to be Lawful Good like Moradin, unfortunately, their love of life and merriment injects far too much chaos in their lives for that to be possible. So while they try to be like Moradin, in truth most dwarves are Neutral Good.
Religion: Dwarves worship Moradin above all else. After their worship of Moradin they will also pay homage to his Sons, Daughters, and Wife appropriately. Their are no evil "dwarven" deities, the rare evil dwarf will often turn to Asmodeus, or another appropriately universal evil deity. Some dwarves will worship Kilgarrah as they are part dragon, and occasionally they will worship a long lived dragon that has been in the family's service for a particularly long time, but, only with the church's permission and only with that caveat that they do so with the belief that the dragon is either an emissary or servant of Moradin and Kilgarrah sent there to show them their favor.
Region: Dwarves live primarily in the upperdark region of the underdark which exists higher than sea level, and almost exclusively inside mountains.
Language: Dwarves speak dwarven, and underdark. Some will go through the effort of learning draconic, and most will pick up a local battle language or two if they have been in battle for an extended period of time. Depending on their primary trading partners dwarves will likely learn spatterings of other common languages as well.
Names: Dwarves are given the name of a recently deceased relative upon birth, and are addressed with their mother's family name. Sometime around puberty the family will give the child a personally descriptive name like Firebeard, trueheart, or Strongarm. This is coupled with the dwarf's change in last name to that of his Father's signifying his movement into adulthood. Females keep their mother's maiden name until their marriage at which point they take their husband's family name.

Black Dragon Dwarf
Personality: Black Dragon Dwarves are actually very similar to the average dwarf in personality and temperament with a few exceptions and differences. Black Dragon Dwarves do not enjoy direct battle like their brethren do. They prefer to ambush enemies and revel in taking the advantage in battle scenarios. This makes them invaluable tacticians to any army. They also do not have the distaste of deep water that other dwarves seem to have and in fact enjoy swimming and deep water diving a great deal. The most noticeable difference between regular dwarves and Black Dragon Dwarves is in their love of coins. Most dwarves enjoy gems, good weapons, minerals and other treasure. Black Dragon Dwarves will rip away coins from any dead enemy before their weapon, or gem bag. They will hoard rare or unusual coins sometimes for generations.
Physical Description: Black Dragon Dwarves' height and weight are no different than that of any normal dwarf. What distinguishes them is their skin color and hair. Regardless of how much sun they have gotten Black Dragon Dwarves are almost always a deep ruddy brown, while their hair is always black. Their hair also forms into dreadlocks instead of flowing like that of a normal dwarf.
Relations: If a Black Dragon Dwarf is born to a generation that sees significant battle they may rise to prominence as a stratego or general. Unfortunately, Battle strategies are the only time that Black Dragon Dwarves use their brains. If they happen to be born during times of peace they will often be considered peculiar for their strange obsession with coin wealth, deep water diving, and their desire to learn the foreign languages of trading partners.
Alignment: Their brutish nature and lack of wisdom make it harder for Black Dragon Dwarves to reach the lofty goal of Lawful Good than normal dwarves. For this reason most of them fall squarely in the neutral good box with some tending towards chaotic good.
Religion: Black Dragon Dwarves worship Moradin as much as any other dwarf, but, when contemplating battle strategies and praying for favor in battle they almost instinctively turn to Kilgarrah. Particularly, devout Black Dragon Dwarves will often favor the worship of one of Moradin's sons over that of their father.
Region: Black Dragon Dwarves are often born to branch families because the dragon that spawns them will live in low lying swamp regions, Valleys, canyons, and the caverns that abut mountains, meaning it will be the poorer members of the family that live in the less desirable parts of the mountains that will be in contact with them. These poorer family members will seek honor and privilege by bringing a dragon into their service. Often this results in a Half-Dragon and then a few Black Dragon Dwarves in the proceeding generation.
Language: Black Dragon Dwarves will speak dwarven, draconic, and undercommon like other dwarves, however they will go to greater lengths to learn local trade languages and local battle languages than other dwarves.
Names: A Black Dragon Dwarf will be given the name of the Half-Dragon that spawned them until they hit puberty, then the naming convention will switch to that of normal dwarven society. It should be noted that usually the Half-Dragon Dwarf in the family will have a slightly more draconic name than normal and could end up with a name like BlackScale or SharpHorn.

Blue Dragon Dwarf
Personality: While arguably the Blue Dragon Dwarf possesses the same overall point of view and goals as normal dwarves they tend to go about it in different ways. Blue Dragon Dwarves would rather go treasure hunting and adventuring in order to gain their wealth and prestige rather than earn it in battle or through inheritance. They also prefer good leather armor to that of heavy metal armor and finesse weapons to big heavy axes or warhammers. Blue Dragon Dwarves also take longer to mentally mature than other dwarves and will often feel uncomfortable for quite some time before growing accustom to new responsibility. The effect is that they often seem childish for their age and will give the impression that they are not comfortable in their own skin until well into adulthood.
Physical Description: Blue Dragon Dwarves are skinnier and more lithe than the average dwarf. They also almost exclusively have sapphire eyes. Their defining characteristic is their split tongue. To someone with good observation skills they may notice a faint odor of ozone whenever a Blue Dragon Dwarf is nearby.
Relations: Blue Dragon Dwarves are some of the most likely dwarves to seek honor and glory outside of the clan ways. If they are born to a lesser branch of the family this is not a problem unless they act in a dishonorable manner. If they are born to the main branch or a more traditional family, having an heir or child act in such a peculiar way could prove disastrous and it is not unusual for them to be forced to check in at predetermined times and report the progress of their honorable deeds. In particularly important circumstances they may even be provided with a chaperone. Once the Blue Dragon Dwarf has gotten over their wanderlust or has proven their mettle they will return to the clan and take on their proper role with aplomb.
Alignment: In their youth Blue Dragon Dwarves are often Chaotic Good and will remain so until they have reached full mental maturity. At that point they will settle down and be more Neutral Good than anything. In their advanced years they may even move to Lawful Good. Due to their adventurous nature, and immaturity a young Blue Dragon Dwarf is in danger more than any other dwarf of falling into evil.
Religion: Most Blue Dragon Dwarves are not religious or devout. They will attend services and fulfill religious obligations but that tends to be the extent of their interest. In their later years they may take religion a bit more seriously, but even then it tends to be in favor of Swiftblade Clangeddin the third son of Moradin who favors speed over strength.
Region: Blue Dragon Dwarves originate from the Southern Continent where the underdark borders the vast desert and mating with Blue Dragons became almost inevitable, since the undergound complexes of those dragons touches the dwarven kingdoms and their trade routes.
Language: Blue Dragon Dwarves show little interest in learning languages beyond Dwarven, and Draconic. with that said they will still learn languages that are useful in their adventuring.
Names: Blue Dragon Dwarves have a tendency to pick up monikers and nicknames in their adventuring and may attempt to keep them for the remainder of their lives.

Green Dragon Dwarf
Personality: Green Dragon Dwarves are a walking contradiction. At times they seem even-keeled and even stoic. However, if someone says the wrong thing or presses the right button, Green Dragon Dwarves will fly off the handle and release a fury rarely seen. Most of the time one cannot even guess as to what has set off the Green Dragon Dwarf their rage is so sudden. Green Dragon Dwarves prefer to live in hillside caves and cliff faces than deep inside mountains. Not unlike Blue Dragon Dwarves, Green Dragon Dwarves prefer to adventure in order to gain individual prestige and wealth. Despite this, they will often find the outside world tiresome and full of stupid ideas. Their Xenophobia and distaste for all things un-dwarven has a tendency to keep them close to home. When they "adventure" it will usually be at a local site. Often they will seek to clear out some ancient hall haunted by evil spirits, or hunt down some rogue beast that is troubling traders. Once they get this taste of adventure they usually go home and move on to normal dwarven endeavors.
Physical Description: Green Dragon Dwarves are slimmer and slightly taller on average than most dwarves. Of all the dwarves they can pass most easily for human. Their telling features consist of olive skin tones, sometimes tinted with a dark green. They hair color is always red, and unlike most dwarves their beards grow out all over and in equal length, whereas traditional dwarven beards favor the chin area over the jawbone.
Relations: Aloof but loyal best describes the Green Dragon Dwarf. They care for and love their families and honor just as any other dwarf does, but, they also have a far greater sense of privacy and an intrinsic desire to be left alone. Families with one of these dwarves in them can never say that they did not see them at the last wedding, or funeral, but, as for what is happening in the Green Dragon Dwarf's life is often a mystery to them. As for other races, the Green Dragon Dwarf tends to be a closet Xenophobe and will rarely associate with any other race unless they have too.
Alignment: Green Dragon Dwarves would prefer to lead quite undisturbed lives. They rarely get involved with community or events and will only go as far as is obligated by social norms, and familial obligations. For this reason they tend to fall within the LN territory.
Religion: Green Dragon Dwarves will do what is expected of them in terms of religious obligations and no more. They often find worship and religious devotion a waste of time. Most will say that if Moradin wanted worship from them or truly cared for them, then they would have been born a different dwarf or he would have made them fanatical and not so indifferent to the process.
Region: Green Dragon Dwarves are usually the farthest removed branches of a family as only the most poor and least decorated members of a family live above ground or near forests.
Language: Green Dragon Dwarves rarely go through the effort of learning a new language unless absolutely necessary. As far as they are concerned if someone cannot speak to them in a language they know then the person is likely not worth speaking to.
Names: Green Dragon Dwarves follow normal dwarven naming conventions, however, in families with many Green Dragon Dwarves these conventions will often lead to slightly unusual names such as GreenChest or Quietbeard due to their appearence or personality.

Red Dragon Dwarf
Personality: The Red Dragon Dwarf can best be described in a single word, Dangerous. Do not make an enemy of a Red Dragon Dwarf. They are cunning and vengeful, as well as, Greedy and Power Hungry. What is most dangerous about them is that Red Dragon Dwarves have the physical and mental strength to back up their ambitions and plots. These dwarves seek to make their mark on the world through sheer military-type intelligence and battle prowess. Often serving as Strategos and Generals in times of war they still have no problem wading elbow deep through battle, hacking through enemies and corpses alike until the day is won. In general social life, they gain the advantage in any situation through subtle intimidation and sheer physical presence. They live to 'conquer' whether in battle or life in general. More importantly, they care greatly for the spoils of war, and will make sure to go after the most well decorated and armed soldiers first so that they can claim the best prizes.
Physical Description: While not the tallest or the bulkiest of the dwarves they still take up more room than any other dwarf overall. Their hair is red, their beards are red, and their eyes are red, glowing fire red.
Relations: Red Dragon Dwarves do care about their families and honor. In fact the quickest way to make an enemy of a Red Dragon Dwarf is to insult either, even a subtle, or unintended slight to a Red's family or honor could bring a fire rain of vengeance down upon a family for generations. As for general relation to the rest of society Red Dragon Dwarves will be fine and happy (though they'll never show it) as long as they feel they are being given due respect and/or have the perceived advantage in a given situation. Despite, the fact that Red Dragon Dwarves revel in Orc-Killing, they seem to get on well with Half-Orcs. They also get on well with Half-Giants, and Mej Hamar. The reasoning seems to be that they respect and relate or those races for their Battle Prowess and enjoy having a Mental Leg up on them.
Alignment: Red Dragon Dwarves respect the chain of command more than anything in their only life. Later in Life as they gain rank and prestige they move more into self-absorption and egoism. Due to this slow onset of smugness and selfish attitude Red Dragon Dwarves will start in the LN territory and generally move towards CN as they grow older. Unfortunately particularly cunning or vengeful Reds can also move towards LE using their positions for personal gain or they can move towards NE as they become obsessed with taking out the enemies around them.
Religion: Red Dragon Dwarves worship just as any other dwarf, however, they tend to favor Kilgarrah more so than Moradin. With that said you will never find a more devout or righteously indignant dwarf than a Red Dragon Dwarf who feels that a God has answered a prayer of their's.
Region: Red Dragon Dwarves are usually born within the main branch of a family. Red Dragons live in volcanoes and Lava fields. Usually only the most central portions of Mountain Kingdoms go anywhere near these locations, thus, only the richest and most honored families are able to even have access to these areas.
Language: Reds have little care for other racial languages. Despite this they often know a few more languages than the average dwarf due to their higher intelligence. They will however learn battle languages since they help in war, and battle.
Names: Red Dragon Dwarves follow normal Dwarven naming customs but will go through great effort at a young age to make sure that their names are fearsome, or threatening. Rather than descriptive names like Silverbeard or Trueheart they would prefer Fireaxe, or GreatRage.

White Dragon Dwarf
Personality: Brutality is the stock and trade of the White Dragon Dwarf. They are merciless, cold-hearted, and vicious. They are this way in all things, whether it be love or war. A misplaced comment or insult directed at a White Dwarf has lead to a number of clan wars over the centuries that only ended when an entire clan was destroyed. One such feud lead to a ban that prohibited the copulation between any dwarf and a white dragon. It lasted nearly 3 centuries but since White Dragon Dwarves breed so prolifically and so often within other White Dwarf clans it did little to curb the creation of more White Dwarves.
Physical Description: White Dragon Dwarves are usually smaller then their other Dwarven Kin. Despite their smaller stature they tend to be extremely muscular, often containing little to no body fat, even in old age. All White Dragon Dwarves posses eerily white nearly translucent skin, some possess a slight blue tint. A few of these Dwarves may have completely white eyes, although its a rarity. The Men grow and decorate their beards as any other dwarf would though they almost always grow out white and can often be covered in icicles, due to the extreme environment most White Dwarves live in.
Relations: White Dragon Dwarves rarely get along with any other race, other types of dwarves or even quite frankly other White Dragon Dwarves. They tend to be highly anti-social. With that said lasting bonds can be created in the heat of battle. Fight alongside a White Dwarf and earn his respect, and you have earned a brother for life. Because of their distinctly un-dwarven like nature most dwarves steer clear of them and consider them the lowest rung of society, most dwarves won't even admit they have white dwarves in the family. Funny thing is that the white dwarf couldn't care less.
Alignment: White Dragon Dwarves do what they want when they want. They care little if at all for societal norms and could care even less about the consequences of their actions. Only the oldest of the White dwarves develop some sense of decorum and restraint. Thus most white dwarves begin in the Chaotic Neutral or Chaotic Evil alignments and those that survive become more Neutral as they grow older.
Religion: Because of her merciless and brutal nature, as well as some of her features the White Dwarves greatly favor the worship of Andana youngest of Moradin's Children. They favor Kilgarrah, for the same reasons. They pay little lip service to any other deities.
Region: Most White Dwarves come from smaller, poorer, less honorable families, or extremely far-flung Familial Branches. They live in the most northern mountains and even then only at the highest points where mating with white dragons can occur. In these situations the white dragon isn't usually brought in to the family for the sake of honor. Instead they may be captured at a young age, and used as a secondary guard or for mating purposes to strengthen a waning bloodline.
Language: Its often hard enough for a White Dragon Dwarf to master Dwarven, and they speak so little, that the idea of learning a second language is preposterous.
Names: White Dragon Dwarves follow the normal naming conventions, but will often assign the task of naming children to a single older member of the clan whose job it is to keep track of the genealogy, since most of them can't be bothered to remember whose cousin is whose.

Brass Dragon Dwarf
Personality: The Life of the Party, a Brass Dragon Dwarf will fill his surroundings with flamboyant decorations, Happy Family, merriment and Drink. They make the most exquisite and elaborate crafts and enjoy spending their free time in the forges commiserating with their friends. Female Brass Dwarves will marry as young as possible and produce an exorbitant number of children. For this reason, along with their sunny dispositions, Female Brass Dwarves are greatly favored by Dwarven Males. Their one flaw is their dislike for war. Make no mistake, they will fight just as mightly as any other dwarf, but would much rather be making the weapons than wielding them. It should also be noted that Brass Dwarves have a hard time living too deep in the mountain. They enjoy the sun too much and can become depressed and distant if they don't get some light every so often.
Physical Description: Brass Dragon Dwarves look the most like normal dwarves, though their complexion and hair color favor the rusty-ruddy spectrum. Their eyes are universally golden brown. In old age their skin can take on a Burnished look, and their eyes may begin to faintly glow like embers in a fire.
Relations: Brass Dragon Dwarves get along with everyone, that has a decent disposition. They enjoy being around Halflings, and humans. Half-breeds can often fascinate them, and they will often ask inappropriate questions. While they enjoy Elves' crafts, they often find them too rigid to make lasting friendships with.
Alignment: When young, a Brass Dwarf, will often take on a mischievous and playful nature, thus beginning in the Chaotic Good Spectrum but, as the gain more tact, retraint and responsibility they move into the more Neutral Good Spectrum. Rarely does a Brass Dwarf become Lawful, though, in those instances it is usually due to extensive and prolonged hardening from Battle.
Religion: They Of Course worship Moradin, but greatly favor Ferodia, Thorgin, and Norlin for their more jovial and less restrained nature. They also enjoy worshiping the unusual Trance.
Region: The vast majority of Brass Dwarves live in the Southern Mountains where the ranges touch Desert, thus it is not unusual for Blue and Brass Dragons to be in the same family. Occasionally a dying clan that has plagued with infertility, or war will seek to marry their males to Brass Dwarven Females in effort to reinvigorate their clans. As such its not unheard of the see Brass Dwarves in the Northern Mountains as well.
Language: Brass Dwarves love talking and they love it more when they can do it in other languages. They will go through great lengths at a young age to learn other languages.
Names: Brass Dwarves follow normal naming conventions but in families dominated by Brass Dwarves its not unusual to find names like Swiftstep, Stonesong, or even Hothammer.
